WEEKLY NOOZ

GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES

Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….

HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOVIE "IMPOSSIBLE", starring Naomi Watts and Jude Law.  It is a great example of Buddhist principles, and I urge you to view it maybe for the second time.  This time, look at it from a yoga point of view.

In a nutshell, this was the story line…

The main character played by Naomi  is holidaying with her husband and three young sons when the Tsunami totally destroys the village in which they are staying.  As you are probably aware, it resulted in total destruction – hard to imagine.   Before the Tsunami the family was lolling about in a luxury hotel complex on a beautiful beach front location.  After the Tsunami, they were fighting for their lives in raging water, and later a desolate and dangerous swamp.

As the Tsunami hits the hotel, Naomi's character is thrown through a plate glass window, seriously damaging one leg and her ribs.  After a terrifying time in the raging flood waters, and in spite of her own pain, she manages to find and save her eldest son.  She presumes her other sons and her husband are dead.

As her only son carries her towards what they hope will be safety,  civilisation,  she hears a child cry a way off.  Although she is damaged and knows she may not live, she sends her son off to look for he child and bring it back, which he does.  Eventually they manage to get to the chaos which is called a hospital.  Whilst she is lying on a crude stretcher, not knowing if she will live or die, surrounded by others dying,  her son asks her what can he do for her.  You and I might cling to our only son, have fears about what might happen to him, what might happen to us without him.  In spite of these considerations she tells him to go around the hospital and do what he can for others, which he does, reuniting people, and watching love in action. Even watching the child they saved re-unite with his father.

Because the son is running around helping others, he hears his father's voice, and is eventually re-united with his father and his two younger brothers.  Because of the chaos, we are encouraged to believe that this reconnection only happened because the child was moving throughout the hospital , assisting people, and would not have happened if he clung to his mothers side.  From time to time he even loses contact with her, but has faith that in spite of the fact he can't see her that moment,  she has said she would never leave him.  Eventually the family comes together and is airlifted to safety.

The Buddha says:  "If you want a job, find a job for others.  If you want a home, find a home for others.  If you want to be loved, first love others".

For me, this film was about the powerful force of faith, and loving others FIRST.  Watch it again.

BIG CHANGE TO THE BLOGS and the bees!
Having transported all my blogs to  www.yoganoozles.blogspot.com  I have hardly had a minute to post more than the word-a-day.  Please hop over want look at it.  Your visits keep me on track.

The old blogs below I have kept open so you can check on the history if you want to go back, but "nozzles" will be the one and only after a time.

"YARN-BOMBING"  Our group started last week, and we have decided to make poppies with a curtain ring as the base, in the same way I made by Christmas Wreaths.  If you have red wool, curtain rings, crochet hooks  or red and black buttons about the size of a 10cent piece please drop them in to the library in Woodend during library hours.  Mark you package "The Yarn Bombing Group".

HOW ABOUT AFFILIATING NOW?
Some of our senior graduates with Yoga Schools of their own are taking the plunge.  Why be a yoga teacher, when you can be a teacher of yoga teachers?  Those girls in far flung Australian outposts of Yoga First (or even International Outposts), please consider becoming an AFFILIATE.  That means you will be me where you are.  You can be a teacher training centre, and you could be one by next week if you meet our criteria which is not onerous.  If you have done our course, we know you and are happy to have you become a teacher training centre.   Think about it.  Then Do it.

SANSKRIT-WORD-A-DAY:
We are none of us as familiar with Sanskrit as we would like to be, and in effort to boost our Sanskrit vocabs, I am putting a SANSKRIT-WORD-A-DAY on my blog.  You can catch up with it there.  I am even twittering, but the twitter/facebook will only have one word.  The blog allows me to play, and there are more than one at a time.  Www.yoganoozle.blogspot.com

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so):
If you are trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.

Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if  you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course.  It wouldn't be fair.  We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes.  As you know if you are making your living running yoga classes, they are not free to the studio owner.  We have to pay all the costs associated with running a class whether you pay a class fee or not.  Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

"If you were to destroy in mankind the belief in immortality, not only love but every living force maintaining the life of the world would at once be dried up". (Dostoevsky)

VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum.
People, people, I record these videos as training sessions because I believe that no matter who you are, where you are or what standard you are, there is still lots more to learn.  There are few teachers in Australia (or the world) who have been teaching yoga for 50 years – I have, and I make a new video or something for the site (this week a meditation audio) that I think is very necessary for your growth as a teacher.

If you are a trainee YOU SHOULD HAVE THE VIDEOS, they are really not optional.  Apart from the information they contain, every time you log on you get a point that counts towards your CONTACT HOURS.  It lessens the classes you actually need to do with a teacher.

If you are a teacher, the videos are a vital addition to your own growth.  The cost is small in comparison with the time you would have to take to get these learnings.

Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged on promptly.

FREE AUDIO:  I am attempting to load an audio "DIVINE REST" YOGA NIDRA RELAXATION (23minutes) so that only those people who have subscribed to our videos can access it.  Once I have succeeded with this, I can do it again, and again..  I keep adding things to our video site that I know will be helpful in your teaching.  The more feedback you give me, the more effective I can be.

THE RECIPES – "No grain no pain" A GUIDE TO THE SIMPLE LIFE.
For Recipes and GF hints  all are now on www.yoganoozle.blogspot.com.  I have been having a lovely time adding dried Asian vegetables to my salads.  They are the highlight.  Tasty and gluten free, especially the "fried shallots".  Crispy,  and beautiful, they add wonderful texture to an already crispy salad.  Last night I had a salad which comprised 2 small dolmades, 1 gluten free garlic and herb sausage (warmed), cherry tomatoes, cos lettuce, herbs from the garden, sliced mushrooms…… and sprinkled across it all,   my crispy shallots.  Try it.

NUT MILK BAGS
These are becoming our best sellers, probably because they have so many uses.  I know it says NUT MILK, but I use it least for that.  Straining yoghurt, skimming the pond are just two of the ways I use the bag.   This week I made some more cream cheese.  You can't do it without the nut milk bag.  Luscious.    To buy the bag log on to the shop at www.yogabeautiful.com.au   or for recipes…..www.yoganoozle.blogspot.com

THE GARDEN:
The weather has turned cold again  - probably because I discovered that I needed the air conditioner on my car changed to the modern CFC Free mechanism – and had it fixed.   The most amazing thing is how fast the trees have dropped their leaves this year.  The garden needs a serious sweep – and I am writing to you – but I would love to be out there sweeping!  I noticed that my climbing beans are making an appearance.  A bit late, but better late than never.

The book "THE SHAMANIC WAY OF THE BEE" has arrived.  If you would like to reserve a copy email me yogafirst@netcon.net.au  I am not sure of the cost.  About $15 I would expect plus postage.

THE BEES
We are planning for our BEE WHISPERER to come this Sunday afternoon.  You can bring your "better half", look at the bees, chat with John, and generally have much more time than we did on Wednesday.     Sunday 23rd of February at 2pm.  Just drop by.  You don't have to do anything other than watch and ask questions.  No exam at the end.

YIN YOGA DVD with Paul Grilley
This DVD is so popular because it is the best.  This DVD will form the backbone of your yoga references and is something you really need.   As I have told you before when I bought mine it cost $100 or so.  I thought that was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this for. Www.yogabeautiful.com.au

JAHNE'S MENTORING SESSIONS – "Step4th Mentoring"
Because Jahne has been teaching yoga for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice. Asking course questions is free,   but,  if you wish to have Jahne help you with relationships, career, or just getting personally  "unstuck" then that is coaching/mentoring and does come with a cost. Her charge per half hour for mentoring is $75 and $65 for student teachers.  It is amazing how much you can shift in half an hour when you strip away the unnecessary chatter.  It's the Buddhist way.

'A CIRCLE OF WOMEN" (our monthly meetings – next one see above)
A CIRCLE OF WOMEN may just be the most powerful force known to humanity.  If you have one, embrace it.  If you need one, seek it.  DIVE IN, HOLD ON, LOVE IT UP.  Get naked.  Let them see you.  Let them hold you.  Let your reluctant tears fall.  Let yourself rise fierce and love gentle.  YOU WILL BE CHANGED.  The very fabric of your being will be altered by this, if you allow it.  PLEASE, PLEASE ALLOW IT (author:: Jeanette Leblanc).

ATTENTION/ATTENTION!!!!   TYLDEN HIGH TEAS
We will be having another HI-TEA at The Harvester Sunday March 2nd, at 1pm?  Please join in.   Give me a call if you can join us, it is catered and we need to know.   They do a better high-tea than either "The Windsor", or "The Langham".  Our students tell us so.  yogafirst@netcon.net.au

REGARDING DEBBIE – If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  She is available on Ph: 0354 273 518.  I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach.  Don't hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can..
